Building & permission errors
Why you can't place, break, open or use something, and how to fix it.

These messages all mean the same thing: the land you're on doesn't let you do that. The fix depends on whose land it is. Run /plot to find out.
Not allowed to build in the wild.
Why it happens
You're in a protected area: the spawn world or the Arena. The Wilderness everywhere else is open. The same message appears for destroy, switch and item use.
How to fix it
- 1Leave spawn with
/rtpor/worldsand build in the Survival, Nether, End or Mining world. - 2See Wilderness rules for which areas are protected.
Outsiders aren't allowed to build.
Why it happens
You're in a town you don't belong to, and it doesn't let outsiders build (or destroy, switch, use items).
How to fix it
- 1Ask the mayor to invite you with
/t add <player>. - 2Or ask them to change the permissions on that plot.
Residents aren't allowed to build here.
Why it happens
You're in your own town, but the mayor turned off resident permissions on town land. By default residents can build everywhere on town land.
How to fix it
- 1Ask the mayor or an assistant to give you a plot.
- 2Or ask them to run
/t set perm resident build on.
Owner doesn't allow town members to build here.
Why it happens
This plot belongs to a player who hasn't given you permission.
How to fix it
- 1Ask the owner to add you as a friend with
/res friend add <you>. - 2Or ask them to change the plot permissions with
/plot set perm.
Allies aren't allowed to build. / Nation members aren't allowed to build.
Why it happens
You're in an allied or fellow-nation town that doesn't give those groups build rights.
How to fix it
- 1Ask that town's mayor to turn on the permission for allies or nation members.
You have not been registered with Survival. Try relogging.
Why it happens
Your player data didn't load correctly when you joined.
How to fix it
- 1Disconnect and join again. If it keeps happening, tell a staff member.
