A town isn't just claims: it's people coming back every day. Here are ideas that work, and the server tools behind them.
โ๏ธ Give everyone a role
| Role in town | Server feature |
|---|---|
| ๐พ Farmer, ๐ฃ fisher, โ๏ธ miner, ๐ช lumberjackโฆ | Jobs: each role earns money for what it already does |
| ๐ช Merchant | The auction house and plot shops |
| ๐๏ธ Assistant, sheriff | Town ranks & roles |
| ๐บ๏ธ Explorer, builder | Outposts and public builds |
๐๏ธ Public places
- ๐ A market: small plots sold cheaply to residents who open a shop (
/plot set perm outsider switch onfor customers). - ๐พ Public farms: wheat, animals, trees, open to all residents (
/plot set perm town switch on). - ๐ฆ A town hall with a board of rules and the list of plots for sale.
- ๐บ A tavern or a square for meeting up and roleplay.
- ๐งญ A warp to your town centre with player warps, so visitors find it easily.
๐ Events
- ๐๏ธ Build contests between residents, judged by the mayor.
- ๐ฏ Treasure hunts in and around the town.
- โ๏ธ Tournaments at the Arena, town against town.
- ๐ The town's anniversary, with a party and gifts.
- ๐ฃ Announce everything on the forums and in town chat
/tc.
๐ต A healthy economy
- Low taxes, and plots that are cheap for newcomers.
- Reward active residents: a bigger plot, a rank, a spot at the market.
- Keep a reserve in the bank for upkeep. See Town bank & upkeep.
The secret
A living town is one where there's always something to do and someone to talk to. A welcome message (/t set board), a tour for each newcomer and one small event a week make all the difference.
