The mayor's guide
A checklist for your first days as mayor: bank, permissions, plots, recruiting and upkeep.

You've just run /t new: congratulations! Here is what to do, in order, so your town survives its first week and grows.
๐ฆ Day 1: secure the town
/t deposit <amount>Put money in the bank: it pays $10 of upkeep every day at noon/t claimClaim the chunk you stand in ($25)/t set board <message>A welcome message shown to residents/t set spawnWhere/t spawnteleports people
Never let the bank run dry
If the bank can't pay the daily upkeep, the town is deleted and all its land becomes Wilderness again. Unclaimed land is reverted to its original state: your builds disappear. Keep at least a week of upkeep in the bank.
๐ Day 1: check the permissions
By default, only residents can build on the town's land, and visitors can't open doors or chests. Adjust if needed:
/t set perm outsider switch onLet visitors open doors (shops, public farms)/t toggle publicLet anyone use/t spawn <your town>/t toggle openLet anyone join without an invitation

๐ก Days 2โ3: prepare plots
- Draw streets and cut the land into plots of one chunk or more.
- Put them up for sale with
/plot forsale <price>, even for $0: residents then buy them with/plot claim. - Keep public areas (square, market, farms) as town land.
- Group big plots with
/plot group add <name>. See Plots.
๐ฃ Week 1: recruit
- Post your town in the Towns & recruitment category of the forums: style, rules, what you offer.
- Welcome newcomers: give them a plot and a tour.
- Every resident adds 8 chunks to your claim limit.
- Name trusted players assistants with
/t rank add <player> assistantso they can help you manage. See Town ranks & roles.
๐ฐ Always: keep the town running
| Income | Expenses |
|---|---|
Resident and plot taxes (/t set taxes, /t set plottax) | $10 of upkeep a day |
| Plot sales | $25 per new chunk, $500 per outpost |
Donations from residents (/t deposit) | Joining a nation, public buildsโฆ |
Tip
Keep taxes low at first: new players leave towns that are too expensive. More in Town bank & upkeep.
๐ Later on
- Join or found a nation and make alliances.
- Add outposts near resources.
- Make your town lively: see Building a living town.
- Going away for a long time? Hand over with
/t set mayor <player>rather than letting the town die.
